PSU is 1st PH Educational Institution to receive PQA Level III

Marking the history of Philippine academia, Pangasinan State University now holds the premier distinction as the first educational institution to be conferred the most prestigious Philippine Quality Award Level III: Mastery in Quality Management during the 23rd PQA Assessment Cycle. The Philippine Quality Award is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance. It is equivalent to the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program in the U.S. and other National Quality Awards nationwide. Established through Executive Order No. 448, issued by former President Fidel V. Ramos on October 3, 1997, the award is given to organizations in the private and public sectors that excel in quality, productivity, and business performance.

In the pursuit towards unmatched quality and excellence in management system, PSU has commenced its PQA journey in 2017 where it underwent a series of rigorous training and workshops to get into the stride of the coveted award and its Criteria for Performance Excellence, consisting of seven (7) categories in Leadership, Strategic Planning, Customer Focus, Measurement Analysis and Knowledge Management, Workforce Focus, Operations Focus, and Results.

 

Since then, PSU had established its ‘Arsenal of Champions’ led by University President, Dr.Dexter R. Buted arm in arm with VP for Academic & Student Affairs Office, Dr. Manolito C. Manuel; VP for Planning & Finance Management Office, Dr. Maria Corazon B. Puzon; VP for Research, Extension & Innovation Office, Dr. Paulo V. Cenas; VP for Administration and Linkages Office, Dr. Elbert M. Galas; VP for Quality Assurance Office / QMR, Dr. Marcelo C. Gutierrez, Jr., and other University Officials to fulfill the requirements in the set criteria.

The PQA as a benchmark for Philippine Industries in bolstering global competitiveness is in the same league with the Institution’s aspirations to infuse all of its programs and activities with a global perspective by utilizing cutting-edge technology for effective instructional delivery and forming connections with prestigious academic organizations.

EXTENSION

Pagsasanay sa peryodismo sa bagong normal, isinagawa

Sa pamumuno ng mga mag-aaral ng MAEd Communication-Arts Filipino ng PANGASINAN STATE UNIVERSITY – School of Advanced Studies ay sumailalim sa pagsasanay sa pamamahayag na mahigit 1000 mga guro at mag- aaral mula sa Pangasinan at iba pang bahagi ng bansa noong Abril 8-10,2021.

Pinangunahan ni Gng. Mary Ann C. Macaranas, propesor sa nasabing unibersidad, at suporta ng mga mag-aaral mula sa MAEd Filipino, ay maigi naisagawa ang puspusang pagsasanay para sa mga guro at batang peryodista na naglalayong palawakin pa ang kaalaman sa pamamahayag.

Inanyayahan sa unang araw ng webinar ang tatlong tagapagsalita na tumalakay sa iba’t ibang paksa sa pamahahayag.

Tinalakay ni Bb. Princess Arjhel F.Alberto ang pagsulat ng balita. Si Bb. Andrea T. Parajas, isang guro mula Calasiao, ang siyang naging tagapagsalita para sa panradyong pagbabalita. Nagbahagi naman si G. Alvin Sy, isa sa mga DepEd Teacher- Broadcaster, ng kanyang kaalaman patungkol sa pantelebisyong pagsasahimpapawid.

Binigyang diin ni G. Erick B.Ancheta ang kanyang paksa tungkol sa Lathalain o Feature:Ang Sining ng Pagsasalaysay ng mga Totoong Kuwento”nagbigay rin siya ng mga tips upang mas maging maganda at epektibo ang isusulat na lathalain.

Tinalakay naman ni Dr. Renato R.Santillan ang paksang “Patas at Totoo sa Pagsulat ng Editoryal Mata at Boses sa Bagong Normal” na kung saan binahagi niya ang mga hakbang o paraan sa pagsulat ng isang mahusay na editoryal sa mga paksang napapanahon lalo na sa gitna ng pandemya.

Ang Peryodismo sa Bagong Normal ay isang palihang nagpapalakas at nagpapakita ng maalab na pakikibaka ng mga mag-aaral ng MAEd- CommArts-Filipino para sa kahusayan ng pamamahayag sa ating Naging positibo naman ang tugon ng maraming kalahok sa ginanap na webinar. Ayon sa ilang mga mag-aaral at gurong lumahok, ang webinar ay nagbigay-daan sa kanila upang mas maunawaan ang mahahalagang konseptong nakapaloob sa pamamahayag.

SAS Researcher joins DepEd Region 1-FTAD Team, for SBM Regional Validation

Researchers from the School of Advanced Studies, Dr. Jun S. Camara and Dr. Gemma M. De Vera, research coordinator and deputy director of SAS respectively, conducted their region-wide study on the implementation of School-Based Management in Region I. Meanwhile, to further triangulate the results of their study, Dr. Camara joined the DepEd Region I Field Technical Assistance Division Team of SBM Validators on June 22, 2022 to observe the processes and validation implementation. The Team Leader, Dr. Ritchie G. Macalanda, EPS in FTAD, has accommodated the Pangasinan State University – School of Advanced Studies through Dr. Camara.

SAS kick starts AY 2021-2022 thru Orientation and Celebration of World Teachers’ Day

The well- attended student orientation was conducted in the morning to inform, update and gather feedback and concerns from the students. SAS officials immediately answered these concerns and ushered the students to utilize the SAS hotlines and FB posting for important announcements.

The orientation was followed by celebration of World Teachers’ Day where the University President Dr. Dexter Buted emphasized the admirable characteristics of teachers that need to be emulated by many. To add more vigor and significance to the celebration, by Dr. Zenaida U. Suyat, former PSU-SAS Executive Director and guest speaker provided meaningful insights on the role of teachers in promoting quality education amid the pandemic.
