PSU School of Advanced Studies Governance

The Pangasinan State University offers post-graduate degree programs through the PSU School of Advanced Studies from masters to doctorate degrees.  In 1982, the doctoral program of the University was offered. In 1994, all graduate programs were centralized in PSU Graduate School – Urdaneta City. PSU Graduate School (former name) provides venue for professionals to gain an in-depth knowledge and specialized skills aimed at enhancing their industry expertise and credibility on their own field of specialization. Aside from keeping themselves abreast with the new trends and to develop new skills, PSU SAS offers a lifelong learning and develops professional network. At the PSU SAS, course syllabi are regularly updated, instructional materials are developed to adapt to the needs of time, library resources and electronic references are provided, smart classrooms and learning management system is put in place for optimum student learning. Students’ thesis and dissertation are congruent to the University research agenda. Qualified faculty members provide effective and efficient learning experiences that are relevant in the lives of students.

In its operations, the PSU SAS complies with the CHED Memorandum Order 40 series of 2008 entitled “Manual of Regulations for Private Higher Education of 2008”, CMO No. 36, s. 1998 and the CMO No. 15, series 2019. To ensure that all the policies, standards and guidelines are complied, COPC or the Compliance of Program Certificate were awarded to PSU SAS by the Commission on Higher Education to the curricular programs offered in the graduate school.

With its organizational structure aligned to that of the University level, its operations is further enhanced. The educational unit is headed by the its Executive Director who is well-experienced in educational management and administration. There are two Deputy Directors—one is deputized for academics, research and extension and the other one is for administration, planning and quality assurance—and the Executive Director as the Top Unit Administrators. PSU SAS ensures that the curricula it offers meet the prescribed standards as it is compliant to the CMO No. 36, series of 1998 governing the various programs.

Part of the governance of the PSU SAS is the development of its annual operational plan (AOP) anchored on the University’s five-year strategic development plan (SDP). Targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) in the area of instruction, research, extension and community involvement and support to University operations are set in compliance to the requirements set by various regulatory bodies such as the CHED, Department of Budget Management (DBM), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Bureau of Fire Prevention (BFP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Civil Service Commission (CSC) and by the accrediting bodies such as Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Investors in People (IiP). Midyear and yearend presentation of the balanced score cards are regularly conducted to review, monitor and evaluate accomplishments of targets. Output of which serves as input for re-planning ang for higher target setting.
