Pangasinan State University received the Silver Award from the country’s leading human resource management organization- Investors in People. University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted, Human Resource Director Mr. Ian Evangelista, and other university officials went to the SMX Convention Center at the SM Aura Premier on May 4 to graciously accept the award.
PSU is said to be the first State University and College to be given such prestigious award.
“As a leader, there is a need to consider the people in the organization, their values, their existing culture and their individual goals. So we carefully weigh the pros and cons before we decide to do something. We analyze things, we debate with people, we brainstorm together we act.“ Dr. Buted stated.
Over the course of Dr. Buted’s administration, the university has constructed eight strategic goals which served as the bible in pursuit of achieving excellence in service delivery. Furthermore, people management was given more importance as PSU bolsters its quality service to its stakeholders.
With this, challenges in low performance of graduates, low employee morale, and concerning infrastructures were relayed. These brought the President and his team revitalize the university’s Vision, Mission, Goals; Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunites, Threates (SWOT) anlaysis; Formulation of Strategic Goals and Options; PreparationandCritiquing of Action Plans; Resource Allocation, Deployment of Strategic Plans; and monitoring Strategic Plan
Aside from PSU, the Republic Cement was also given the same award. Other IiP Accredited Awardees were Maynilad Water Services Incorporated and the National Mapping Resource Information Authority of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The Investors in People Philippines is an accrediting organization which aims to improve and transform an institution’s performance through strategic human resource management and leadership.
