After a decade of scorching coils and midnight candles, Pangasinan State University’s School of Advanced Studies (SAS) 42nd Commencement Exercises have been a celebration of the sophisticated and competent class of 2021 in becoming a part of the greater society.

The University’s SAS produced 54 graduates, as presented by Dr. Rosario Valencerina, Executive Director of SAS, for the Commencement theme “Angking Galing at Halagahan ng Bawat PSUnians: Tugon sa Hamon ng Pandemya.” Dr. Manolito C. Manuel, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, accepted the 53 graduates and recommended them to University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted. He used the power bestowed upon him to confirm and congratulate the PSU-SAS Graduates of 2021, as well as to spearhead the shifting of the Abaray na Dayew as the graduation emblem at Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren’s Convention Hall in Lingayen Pangasinan.

Univeristy President in his inspirational message said “…Nobody expected the pandemic last 2 years ago, nobody is prepared, nobody anticipated that this generation would face this catastrophe. Many plans were pushed back, some people even lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic. Even you faced interruptions and delays in completing your thesis and dissertation, which is required to complete your degree. In addition to delay, there is the constant fear of contracting the infection because there is no cure. Despite the stress and delay, your world and enthusiasm never stopped spinning, and you never stopped working to improve your skills and knowledge for professional advancement…”

Moreover, Hon. Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero, Undersecretary for Agri-Industrialization and for Fisheries addressed the graduating students “…In this time of Pandemic, it is really important how we establish interpersonal relationships, this interpersonal relationship becomes our solid ground not only to face the day-to-day challenges but also to face the unknown. The pandemic does not give us assurance of what will be the future and this very challenge has affected a lot people lives. You’re having graduation today and it is one of the very special moments in your family, in yourself, and even maybe in your community…”
