PSU officials and personnel, led by Pres. Dr. Dexter R. Buted, join the ground-breaking ceremony and restoration of Our Lady of Lourdes, together with the Salasa Church officials.
PSU joined in the groundbreaking ceremony and restoration of the more than three hundred (300) year-old Salasa Parish Church under the ADOPT-A-CHURCH Community Development Project of PSU-College of Engineering and Architecture. The church is a Spanish colonial church located in the municipality of Bugallon in Pangasinan. It was founded in 1714 by Father Antonio Perez.
PSU, through the initiative of Dr. Paulo V. Cenas, responded to the needs of Our Lady of Lourdes’ parishioners in Bugallon, Pangasinan through Mr. William Mejia. The team conducted several on-site and ocular inspection on the structure of the church. The team provided recommendations and suggestions as to the extent of rehabilitation and restoration of the church. Architectural and structural drawings and plans were provided for them to start in raising fund for the said rehabilitation.
A week-long celebration was awaited by all parishioners, guests, pilgrims, and fisherfolks in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes. The theme was “Maria, Ina Ng Lahat Ng Kristiyano, Daan Para Sa Diyalogo Tungo Sa Pagkakaisa!” One of the celebration highlights is the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the said rehabilitation and restoration of the church as well as the open viewing of the Marian exhibit.
