Continuing its relentless quest to strengthen outcomes-based quality assurance, the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) conducted a virtual training for Senior and Institutional Accreditors last April 11 and 12, 2022.
During the first day, Dr. Edgardo E Tulin, President of AACCUP welcomed all the delegates. The said webinar gathered accreditors from institutionally accredited SUCs such as Pangasinan State University, Tarlac State University, and Visayas State University as well as participants for program accreditation from Bicol University, Mariano Marcos State University, Camarines Sur Polytechnic College, Central Mindanao State University, Bulacan State University, West Visayas State University, Aurora State College of Technology, Guimaras State College, Philippine Normal University. University of Northern Philippines, Tarlac Agricultural University, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, and Batangas State University.
Afterwhich, Dr. Milabel E. Ho, AACCUP Executive Director, presented the topic AACCUP: Preparing Accreditors to New Paradigms of Assessment for Program and Institutional Accreditation. The afternoon session highlighted the talk of Dr. Federico M. Macaranas of the Aisian Institute of Management. He discussed the problems of AACCUP accreditation and the system to prepare the work of AACCUP in the 21st century. The different SUCs were then tasked to prepare a SWOT analysis of their institutions vis-a-vis the different areas of program and institutional accreditation.
On the second day, Dr. Macaranas continued his talk as he presented proposed solutions over fast-changing situations in the quality assurance areas using management science frameworks. Learning teams composed of the different SUCs then presented their outputs for the second day’s task on reinventing the contents of Day 1’s SWOT analysis in line with the rapidly changing challenges posed by the 21st century.
