Creativity in the academe was shared to the teacher-participants during the two-day entitled Webinar on Academic Innovations and Latest Technological Advancements in Teaching held on June 16 – 17, 2022, spearheaded by PSU SAS students.
Invited speaker, Dr. Potenciano D. Conte, Jr., a faculty of PSU SAS and Lingayen Campus discussed creativity, its phases and processes. Quoting the definition of Britannica, “Creativity is the ability to make or otherwise bring into existence something new, whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or device, or a new artistic object or form”, he said.
With his registered creative works duly copyrighted at the National Library of the Philippines, Dr. Conte elaborated the componential theory of creativity by Teresa Amabile in his lecture. In the componential theory, he said “the influences on creativity include domain-relevant skills, creativity-relevant skills and task motivation”. “The social environment is also an important factor”, he adds.
To enhance appreciation on the role of creative works in the teaching-learning process and to conceptualize, develop and present a creative work helpful in the teaching-learning process were part of the lecture objectives. At the end of the lecture, participants had submitted their draft works and were creativity by the lecturer.
