The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the essential role of women in frontline services. In line with this, the Philippine Commission on Women’s theme for the celebration of the National Women’s Month is We Make Change Work for Women: Juana, Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya! The theme emphasized the multifaceted role of women frontliners such as doctors, nurses, police officers, barangay officials and health workers, grocery and supermarket personnel in providing basic services to people despite of the risks of contracting coronavirus.
As a way of paying tribute to women frontliners in the adopted barangays of PSU Alaminos City Campus, the Gender and Development Office provided shirts with the logo of this year’s NWM celebration. The beneficiaries were Barangay Chairpersons, kagawads, health workers, and other personnel who assist in frontline services.
The GAD Coordinator Ms. Chenee Marie Cacho and Assistant GAD Coordinator Ms. Criselda Lyn Cruz and selected women faculty members assisted the Campus Executive Director, Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, and the highest-ranking woman Campus official of PSU ACC, Dr. Gloria M. Ducut, Dean of the College of Business and Technology in the distribution of the said shirts to the beneficiaries in Barangay Pangapasina, Bisocol, Bolaney, and Lucap.
